Editorial Reviews
Despite a few quirks, any die-hard 'N Sync fan will
certainly go gaga over the 'N Sync Hotline Fantasy Phone and CD-ROM Game.
After all, what young girl wouldn't swoon over Justin Timberlake calling at
bedtime to say, "Hi, it's Justin. I just called to say goodnight, sleep
tight, and don't let the bedbugs bite"? Yes, this unique combination toy
cell phone and interactive game lets you receive virtual calls and special
messages from all the 'N Sync boys, as well as play a handful of games featuring
none other than Justin, Lance, JC, Joey, and Chris.
The phone itself is the main attraction. After connecting it to the game port
on your computer with the included cable, you tell the program your name, then
enter your birthday and bedtime, and you'll receive personalized messages at
these times. You can also download up to five messages at a time from any of the
band members (out of dozens of possible messages from each guy), and you'll get
periodic calls from them. Or, if you don't answer the phone right away, the
messages will be delivered to your "voice mail" where you can listen
to them later. You can also call each member of the band and ask the guys
"yes" or "no" questions, à la Magic Eight Ball. If you're
exceptionally creative or silly, this can be the most amusing part of the game.
The five games for your PC, on the other hand, are nothing short of strange
(or stupid, depending on how you look at it) and anyone will probably quickly
tire of playing them. In the bowling game, for example, you send a ball down the
lane to hit bowling pins that have the heads of the 'N Sync guys. If you knock
them over or land your ball in the gutter, they'll either congratulate you on
your skills or make fun of you. We found it nearly impossible to knock over all
the pins, and quickly irritating, no matter how dreamy we thought a mini
Justin-headed bowling pin was. And, though not necessary, you can use the phone
as a controller for all the games while it's connected to the computer. However,
after fumbling around with the controls, we found it much easier to just use the
keyboard and mouse.
The best of the pack is the trivia game, which is pretty cut-and-dry. The
game asks questions about the members of the band, and you have to guess what
Joey's favorite color is or which guy likes French fries. Some of the trivia is
pretty juicy, and some just plain weird. The only reward for completing these
games is a new message from the guys that you can download to your phone.
But, being forgiving 'N Sync fans ourselves, we found the phone to be pretty
cool, generally entertaining, and something we consistently want to show off to
our friends. (Ages 8 and older) --Ara Jane Olufson

This is AWSOME!, November 26, 2001
I can't begin to tell you how much fun this game is. I am about 4 years past my
teens (you do the math) and I still love this game. For all the info on what is
in the game, read the amazon info or the other review up here. I think my
favorite part of the game is the messages from the guys and the fact that you
can call the guys up and ask them yes or no questions kind of like having a
Nsyncer magic 8 ball. I wasn't sure about spending my hard earned money on the
game but it was well worth it and easy to set up. The hardest part was hooking
up the computer cord for the phone. I highly recommend this game for any true
nsync fan. The trivia has questions on things that I didn't even know (and I
know A LOT!).
Great fun for the *NSYNC fan!, September 17, 2001

The *NSYNC Fantasy Phone and CD Rom game is GREAT! I am an...um
hum...older...fan of *NSYNC and love this game and phone. It comes with a plug
to insert in your SoundCard and into the phone (note: phone needs 3 AAA
batteries not included). You set up the phone with your name and birthday and
bedtime (you get a message from your favorite *NSYNCer at bedtime!) You can set
up your phone to receive up to about 4 selected 'messages' from the guys. You
are permitted to listen to each message and then download the ones you want. You
can change the messages each day or keep the same ones. The CD is 5 games:
Bowling (the guys are 5 of the pins and they are funny), Make a Move (you follow
the guys dancing), Trivia (fun facts), Quick Change (change their clothes to
match within a specific time) and Charity Challenge (you blow the guys kisses
from a Nerf like gun). You can select the difficulty level in all games. You
play by all Access Pass where you must achieve a certain score in each game at
the most difficult level to move on - the guys give you a phone number to move
on. If you finish this you get a secret message from the guys. Also you can
select No Strings method where you can play each game as often as you like ie to
practice. Each part of the game is enhanced with a great video of each *NSYNCer
introducing the game and the rules. There is a quick help menu always available
at the touch of a key. You can either use the keyboard on your computer or the
keypad of the phone to navigate the game. When you are done playing you are to
click on Gotta Bounce and special messages from *NSYNC are downloaded to your
phone. When your phone rings, you can listen to each message. You can also turn
the ringer off (for instance in the library). Each of the 5 individual games are
filled with little surprises. The game is great fun. I recommend it highly for
any *NSYNC fan.
Very very good!, March 17, 2003
The phone is very cool. It's really great because you tell them your name and
the time you go to bed and they ring you and say goodnight! It's like a real
phone it's so cool. If you don't answer the phone they leave a message. You can
call them and ask them questions. The phone is great but I don't like the games
very much so I gave it 4 stars.
Great game!, July 20, 2002
I must say this was a guilty pleasure. I don't really like nsync but I saw
this game for only 12 dollars and had to get it. It was actually pretty funny,
but not enough fun to last awhile. The games on the cd rom were alright. I had a
lot of trouble on the trivia though. Here is my review on each game.
Charity Challenge- I didn't like this to much. It just wasn't that fun.
Trivia- This was hard for me since I am not an nsync fan. Really big nsync
fans will have no problem on this though.
Bowling- This was pretty cool. I love to bowl so this was pretty cool to have
on this game. The guy's heads are drawn on to five of the pins and they talk
every now and then. Very cool!
Quick change- I kinda like this. It was pretty fun but each guy has the same
outfits. They should have given each guy their own clothing.
Make a Move- My favorite. I think I like this one because I like rhythm/dance
games. This was kinda like a dance game in a way.
So there you have it, my review. Very great for some nsync fun!!
